Quick answer
It depends on your environmental clearance. Older clearances often set 33% of the project area. For new and pending applications, a ministry memorandum of 29 October 2025 sets minimums by category: 15% (red) or 10% (orange) for units in industrial estates, 20 to 25% (red) or 15 to 20% (orange) for standalone units, and 40% for red and orange units in critically or severely polluted areas.
For older clearances, the condition written in your clearance still applies. For new and pending applications, the 29 October 2025 memorandum sets category-based minimums instead.
The memorandum refers to 2,500 trees per hectare for common green areas in industrial estates. Your clearance may set a density, rows or widths; change the density in the calculator to match.
The memorandum allows planting beyond the minimum to be done off-site, with at least five years of watering and protection. Check what your clearance allows.
Native, pollution-tolerant species in several layers suit most sites. See our green belt guide and confirm the list with the State Forest Department.
Yes. We survey the site, plan species, plant with our team, care for the trees for three years and report on GreenTrack. Green belt work is priced per project after a site survey.
