On International ESG Day 2025, Techno Electric & Engineering Co. Ltd carried out a meaningful CSR Plantation Drive, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable development. The initiative brought together employees, volunteers, and community members to plant a diverse range of native tree species, creating green pockets that will contribute to cleaner air, improved biodiversity, and long-term ecological balance. By aligning the plantation drive with ESG principles, the company highlighted its focus on reducing carbon footprint, enhancing green cover, and promoting collective participation in environmental stewardship. Name of Species: Yellow kaner, red kaner, chilli, hibiscus, harsingar, maulshree.

Species Selection & Its Benefits: 

The species selected for Techno Electric & Engineering Company Ltd's Urban Forestry Initiative were carefully chosen to align with the local ecosystem and maximise ecological benefits. The selected species offer a blend of environmental, social, and economic advantages.

Yellow Kaner, Red Kaner, Hibiscus, Chilli, Harsingar, and Maulshree together form a vibrant and functional plant selection suitable for urban gardens, community green spaces, and biodiversity-focused landscapes. Yellow and Red Kaner (Oleander varieties) are hardy ornamentals that thrive in heat, require minimal water, and bloom year-round, making them ideal for beautification and roadside plantations. Their dense foliage also acts as a natural dust and noise barrier. Hibiscus adds ecological value with its bright flowers that attract butterflies, bees, and other pollinators, while its leaves enrich the soil as natural mulch.

Chilli plants serve as productive, low-maintenance shrubs that offer both economic and nutritional value. They grow well in small spaces, improve kitchen garden output, and help diversify agroforestry plots. Harsingar (Parijat/Nyctanthes arbor-tristis) contributes medicinal benefits and releases fragrant night-blooming flowers that support nocturnal pollinators. It is also known for improving air quality and growing sustainably even in urban conditions with moderate care.

Maulshree (Mimusops elengi) strengthens the overall ecological framework with its evergreen canopy, fragrant flowers, and ability to withstand pollution, making it excellent for avenue and institutional plantations. It enhances microclimate cooling, provides shade, and supports local biodiversity by attracting birds and insects. Together, these species offer aesthetic appeal, medicinal value, pollinator support, climate resilience, and multi-purpose benefits suitable for sustainable green development.
