Plantation Duration: June 16, 2025 to June 21, 2025 

Name of Species: Guava, Lemon, Mango, Bamboo, Anjeer, Teak, and Custard Apple

Species Selection & Its Benefits: 

The project prioritizes selecting tree species that are native to the region and well-suited to the local climate, ensuring better survival rates and contributing to the long-term ecological health of the area. In addition to the environmental benefits, the chosen species are aligned with local market demand, ensuring that they offer viable income opportunities for farmers.The selected species — Guava, Lemon, Mango, Bamboo, Anjeer, Teak, and Custard Apple — offer diverse ecological and economic benefits. Guava is rich in vitamins, supports community health, and enhances soil fertility through leaf litter, contributing to better soil organic content. Lemon improves soil quality, acts as a natural pest repellent, and provides high market value fruits for both fresh and processed uses. Mango provides dense shade, supports wildlife through its flowering and fruiting cycles, and contributes significantly to carbon sequestration and long-term income generation. Bamboo aids in land restoration, prevents soil erosion, and promotes rapid biomass growth while serving as a sustainable source of raw material for rural industries. Anjeer (Fig) enhances soil fertility through nutrient recycling and provides a nutrient-rich fruit with strong market demand, while also supporting pollinators and local biodiversity. Activities During Tree Plantation

In the days leading up to the plantation, the ground preparation team and local farmers in Karjat, Wagachwadi, Maharashtra, worked diligently to prepare the land. Trenches were carefully dug to improve water retention, prevent soil erosion, and create optimal conditions for sapling growth. The 2,120 saplings were systematically arranged according to species and spacing requirements, ensuring efficient plantation and long-term survival.

On the plantation day, farmers actively participated in the large-scale Agroforest drive under the Infinity Cars Private Limited sustainability initiative, executed in collaboration with Grow Billion Trees (GBT). The event showcased a strong spirit of community and environmental stewardship, as participants came together to restore degraded lands and enhance agricultural landscapes through tree-based systems.
