About this forest

46 Years – 46 Trees – 46 Long-Lasting Impacts

Dr. Mohit Bhandari is among the world's leading obesity surgeons who have transformed the lives of countless patients.

On 24th October 2026, the 46th birthday of Dr. Mohit Bhandari, ProGNS wanted the wishes to take a form that would continue to grow long after the day had passed.

And so, ProGNS chose to plant 46 trees in his honour, each tree a mark of our deep respect for the significant impact Dr. Mohit is creating on the lives of numerous patients.

ProGNS will make sure that each sapling is nurtured and geo-tagged, and that its progress is followed from day one for over three years, until it becomes self-sustaining.

As these saplings grow, they will give shade, support local farmers, enrich the soil and absorb carbon. They will become a living reflection of Dr. Mohit's values of care, compassion and living for others.

For ProGNS, it is a promise: that just as these trees keep growing, our respect for Dr. Mohit and our commitment to the patients he serves will keep growing with them, year after year.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Mohit Bhandari, from the entire ProGNS team.
Thank you for the numerous lives you touch every day.

An initiative by ProGNS Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with Grow Billion Trees.

Project Planning & Execution

No of Trees: 46 Trees

Plantation Location: Rajpur, Barwani, Madhya Pradesh - 451447

Plantation Duration: 24th October 2026

Planting Methodology and Its Advantages

Agroforestry: ProGNS Healthcare Pvt Ltd’s tree plantation initiative promotes agroforestry as a sustainable approach that combines environmental conservation with community development. By integrating trees with agricultural landscapes, the initiative supports biodiversity, improves soil and water health, enhances carbon sequestration, and strengthens climate resilience while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for farmers. Through this effort, ProGNS Healthcare Pvt Ltd reaffirms its commitment to ecological restoration, environmental stewardship, and building greener, healthier, and more resilient communities.

Advantages of Agroforestry

  • Increased Farmer Incomes: This approach helps increase farmers’ income by as much as 3 times. Farmers benefit from diversified income sources, lifting economic resilience.

  • Improved Livelihoods: Agroforestry enhances farmers' resilience to economic and climate-related shocks by creating more sustainable and diversified farming systems.

  • Biodiversity Promotion: Agroforestry supports a diverse range of plants and animals, creating habitats for wildlife and improving ecosystem health.

  • Environmental Sustainability: This model reduces carbon emissions and promotes sustainable land management, aligning with SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).

  • Food Security: Agroforestry enhances agricultural productivity and food availability by integrating fruit-bearing trees with crops, contributing to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger).

  • Carbon Sequestration: Trees planted through agroforestry absorb carbon dioxide, helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Climate Resilience: Agroforestry helps mitigate climate change impacts by improving land productivity and fostering biodiversity.

  • Improved Soil and Water Management: Trees enhance soil fertility, reduce erosion, and increase water retention, resulting in more resilient farming.

Conclusion Elements

Indirect Impact

Community Impact

  • Empowerment of Farmers – By providing access to sustainable agroforestry practices and resources, the initiative equips farmers with the skills and knowledge needed to enhance productivity and adapt to environmental changes.

  • Food Security – By integrating fruit-bearing trees into agricultural systems, the initiative strengthens food stability by providing nutritious produce for both household consumption and market sale.

  • Environmental Awareness – The project encourages responsible land use and highlights the importance of tree plantation and biodiversity conservation within the local community.

  • Enhanced Social Equity – Agroforestry promotes inclusive growth by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, supporting small and marginal farmers, and reducing economic disparities within rural communities.

Environmental Impact

  • Carbon Sequestration: Trees act as carbon sinks, absorbing significant amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere, helping to mitigate climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Soil Health Improvement: Agroforestry enriches soil through organic matter from fallen leaves and roots, improving fertility, structure, and nutrient availability for crops.

  • Erosion Prevention: Tree roots stabilize the soil, reducing erosion caused by wind and water while protecting nearby agricultural fields and water bodies.

  • Biodiversity Conservation: By creating habitats for various species, agroforestry enhances biodiversity, supporting pollinators, beneficial insects, and native wildlife.

  • Water Cycle Regulation: Trees improve water retention, recharge groundwater levels, and reduce surface runoff, contributing to a more balanced and sustainable water cycle.

  • Microclimate Regulation: Agroforestry moderates temperature extremes, reduces wind speeds, and increases humidity, creating favourable conditions for crop growth and ecosystem balance.
