Name of Species: Awala, Bargad, Jamun, Badam, Pipal, Karanj, Arjun

Species Selection & Its Benefits: The species selected for the plantation initiative—Phyllanthus emblica (Awala), Ficus benghalensis (Bargad), Syzygium cumini (Jamun), Terminalia catappa (Badam), Ficus religiosa (Pipal), Pongamia pinnata (Karanj), and Terminalia arjuna (Arjun)—have been carefully chosen to ensure ecological balance and long-term sustainability. These native and adaptive species enhance biodiversity by providing food and shelter to birds, pollinators, and small wildlife. Fruit-bearing trees such as Awala and Jamun support community nutrition and income generation, while shade-giving trees like Bargad and Badam help regulate microclimates and improve air quality. Karanj enriches soil fertility through nitrogen fixation, and Arjun plays a crucial role in preventing soil erosion, especially near water bodies.
