What a tree plantation certificate should show
- the name of the person, family or company the tree was planted for
- a unique certificate or order number
- the planting organisation's name and contact details
- the species, planting date and location (village or district and state)
- a way to check the tree: a geo-tag, photo or tracking link
- how long the tree will be cared for
Types of plantation certificates
-
Personal and gift certificates: for a birthday, anniversary, wedding or festival, in your name or someone else's.
-
Memorial certificates: a tree planted in memory of a loved one.
-
Employee certificates: one tree per employee, often for Diwali, work anniversaries or a plantation drive.
-
Corporate programme certificates: for a company's plantation project, usually alongside detailed project reports.
Most certificates today are digital, so they can be shared instantly and linked to live tracking. See what a digital tree certificate is.
How to check that a tree was really planted
- Look for a certificate or order number and a tracking link.
- Open the tracking page and check the location, species and photos.
- Check whether the organisation reports survival, not just planting.
For Grow Billion Trees certificates, enter the certificate or order number on Track my trees.
What a plantation certificate is not
-
Not a tax receipt. Donations to eligible charities may qualify for a deduction under Section 80G only with a separate 80G receipt from that charity.
-
Not a carbon credit. Carbon credits come only from registered, verified projects. See how to get carbon credits in India.
-
Not CSR documentation on its own. Companies need a utilisation certificate and project reports for CSR projects.
Grow Billion Trees plantation certificates
When you plant a tree with us for ₹299, a 2–3 ft native sapling is planted, cared for for three years and geo-tagged, and you get a digital certificate in your name or the name of the person you're gifting it to. See our certificate, plant a tree or, for companies, employee and corporate plantation.
