Dense native forests in cities
Telecom, media and entertainment
Link a tree to every match, show or subscriber action, and run CSR forests near your circles and studios. Every tree is geo-tagged and cared for three years.
400+ companies plant with us · 85% survival, program-wide · 14 states across India
Quick answer
Listed telcos and media houses in the top 1,000 must file a BRSR. Companies above the s.135 thresholds must spend 2% of average net profit on CSR. Fan pledges such as 500 saplings per dot ball in the IPL 2024 playoffs show how audiences now expect visible green action. So these companies need plantation that is verifiable, linked to audience actions and kept separate from network energy emissions.

Telecom operators, media houses, sports franchises and studios have no plantation law of their own. They plant for CSR, BRSR and above all for audiences who expect visible action. The cards below show each driver and where trees help.
| Driver | What it asks | How plantation helps | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| CSR spending (Companies Act 2013, s.135) | Companies above ₹500 crore net worth, ₹1,000 crore turnover or ₹5 crore net profit spend 2% of average net profit of three years. A 2026 Bill, still with a Joint Parliamentary Committee, proposes a ₹10 crore profit trigger. | Yes: a three-year plantation near circles, studios or home grounds can be a reportable CSR project. | PRS: Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 |
| BRSR (SEBI, 2021) | The top 1,000 listed entities, including listed telcos and media houses, file a BRSR, mandatory from FY 2022-23. | Partly: plantation goes into environment disclosures; it does not change network energy or emissions figures. | SEBI board memorandum on BRSR, April 2021 |
| Green telecom (TRAI recommendations, 2011) | TRAI recommended hybrid renewable-plus-grid power for towers and carbon footprint reporting by operators. | No: trees do not cut diesel or grid emissions at towers. Only power and equipment changes do. | TRAI recommendations on green telecom, 2011 |
| Fan-facing pledges (IPL 2024 playoffs, BCCI) | The BCCI and the Tata group pledged 500 saplings for every dot ball in the IPL 2024 playoffs. | Yes: one tree per action works when each tree is planted, located and checked for survival, and fans can see it. | Wisden: IPL 2024 playoffs dot-ball count |
| Green claims (CCPA greenwashing guidelines, 2024) | Advertisers and endorsers must back environmental claims with credible evidence. | Partly: geo-tagged trees and survival data back a campaign claim. A vague 'eco-friendly' tag does not. | Storyboard18: CCPA greenwashing guidelines |
| National tree cover goal (India's NDC, 2022) | An additional carbon sink of 2.5 to 3 billion tonnes CO2e through forest and tree cover by 2030. | Partly: plantation supports this national goal. It does not count toward your own scope 1 or 2 targets. | India's updated NDC, August 2022 (UNFCCC) |
Tower and network energy is the core of a telecom footprint. Trees do not reduce it, so keep plantation in CSR and biodiversity reporting, not in emission totals. See our net-zero page for how to present both.
A tree per dot ball, per goal, per stream or per subscription is easy for fans to grasp. It only holds up if the trees are real, located and alive. Our one-tree-per-action platform links each action to a tree and a public page.
Plan the planting season early. Big tournaments and festivals rarely match the monsoon, so pledges are planted in the right window and reported later.
Premieres, concerts, matches and award nights can each fund an urban forest in the host city. They can also fund farm trees through agroforestry, where farmers keep the fruit and timber income. Viewers and fans can follow the forest on GreenTrack.
No. Tower diesel and grid power are scope 1 and 2 emissions, and trees do not reduce them. Report plantation as CSR or a contribution beyond your targets.
Each action, such as a dot ball, goal or subscription, is counted and matched to a tree. We plant in the right season and publish locations and survival on GreenTrack.
Yes. Each campaign gets a public page with tree locations, species and survival checks.
Only if the season suits. Most planting is done in the monsoon window, so pledges made during a tournament are planted and reported afterwards.
We advise against it. Carbon figures from young trees are estimates, and the CCPA expects green claims to be backed by evidence. State the number of trees and where they grow.
Pricing depends on the number of trees, the location and the programme. Each tree is a 2-3 ft sapling, planted, geo-tagged and cared for three years. Event forests and CSR projects are priced per project after a site survey.
No. We do not sell carbon credits from these plantations, and farmers in our agroforestry projects keep the fruit and timber income.
